Children’s Heart Foundation Fundraiser – Sunday 9/27 @2pm

2015-08-24_12-44-43 Today we received the most beautiful letter from David Barber and wanted to share it along with information about a very important fundraising event coming up to benefit The Children’s Heart Foundation.  We hope you will join us in supporting the cause.

EXCERPT FROM LETTER FROM DAVID:

“Peyton is alive today in part because of Dr. Chowdhury’s “outside the box” thinking.  Because she was (and is) not tied to a specific hospital she is able to do what other cardiologists won’t allow themselves to do.  And that is… see her patients…figure out exactly what they need and then connect us with the right surgeons and hospitals to give us the very best outcome. We appreciate so much her deep care for her patients and you too, as you went the extra mile to get all of the documents needed so that the insurance company would cover the procedures out of state.

“We want to thank you, all of you for your hard work.  I imagine running your own office is not an easy task!  We want to help as much as we can.  Through our event we hope to recognize Dr. Chowdhury and all of her staff and to bring light to what you are doing not only for Peyton, but for Adam and Elliot and Ashtyn…just to name a few.”

ABOUT THE CHILDREN’S HEART FOUNDATION & THE BEAT GOES ON KIDS CARNIVAL

“The goal of The Children’s Heart Foundation, a 501 (c)((3) organization, is to bring health, hope and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the #1 birth defect in the world. We accomplish this goal by funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects in children. Nearly 1 out of every 100 births, or 40,000 babies each year will be born with a congenital heart defect (CHD). More than half of all children born with CHD will require at least one invasive surgery during their lifetime. Sadly, 20 percent of these children will not live to celebrate their first birthday.

“Since 1996, The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF) has funded 62 research projects with more than $7.3 million. In the last decade, death rates for congenital heart defects have declined by 30 percent because of advances in research. However, more work needs to be done to save and im-prove the lives of children with CHDs.

“Our goal for the Beat Goes on Kids Carnival and Concert is to fund research for Congenital Heart Defects, treatments and causes as well as raising awareness about congenital heart defects and to provide a day of comradery for CHD supporters and their families. Over 200 people are expected to attend, primarily families and friends of children with CHDs and many of the doctors and nurses who care for these children.”
